How to Make a Social Media Splash in 2023

Mischa social media splash 2023

A new year is upon us! We hope your holiday season was fantastic, and you were able to spend the last couple weeks enjoying plenty of family, fun and food.

But all good things must come to an end, and as of today, it’s back to business as usual.

Last week, we talked about some things you could do to add some spice to your 2023 marketing. Today, we’re going to dig down a little further and look at ways you can make a splash with your social media marketing strategy.

Social Media Tips for a Brand New Year

Give Influencer Marketing a Shot

Influencer marketing — hiring someone of note to promote your products and services — is growing in popularity. In fact, it was a $16.4 billion industry in 2022.

As it turns out, people are more likely to buy what you’re selling if someone they admire touts it.

Although many smaller businesses dismiss the idea because of the cost, it doesn’t have to be prohibitively expensive. Micro-influencers with fewer than 10,000 followers can often be had for less than $100 per post. And if you have a niche business, a micro-influencer with like-minded followers could still deliver a meaningful impact.

Let Your Followers Create Your Content

If your fans and followers are willing to promote your business free of charge, our advice is to let them! User-generated content (UGC) builds trust and allows you to reach new fans while saving time and money.

Some examples of UGC include:

  • Custom hashtags
  • Unboxing videos
  • Photos and memes
  • Customer reviews
  • Social media comments

Meet Your Target Audience Where They’re At

Each social media platform lends itself to a very different audience. If you’re marketing Doritos-flavored soda to college frat boys, you’re probably not going to get much traction on Pinterest. If you’re trying to draw wealthy retired businesspeople to your fintech firm, a trendy TikTok dance vid might not be your best bet.

It doesn’t matter how good your Facebook game is if your target audience is hanging out on LinkedIn. So it’s important to know what platforms they’re most engaged on and meet them there.

Explore Emerging Platforms

Facebook algorithms are becoming increasingly restrictive about who sees what (unless you show them the money, of course). And things at Twitter have gotten … well, weird. In response, new social media platforms are popping up all over the place, and we think it would be well worth your time to check them out and see if they’re right for your business.

Some of the early frontrunners include Mastodon, Hive and CounterSocial. And if you haven’t heard anything about any of them yet, just wait! We’ll be talking a lot more about alternative social media platforms next week!

Be Authentic

It’s 2023, and all of us have had it up to our collective chins with being marketed at. We’re done feeling like nothing more than an email address or a credit card on file.

For brands to succeed in this day and age, they have to be personal.

Don’t just post on social media – connect on social media. Follow your followers. Wish them a happy birthday. Comment on their new puppy. Show them that while yes, you are a business, there’s also a friendly face behind the brand. That’s what social media is all about!

Start 2023 Off On the Right Foot!

Social media is, has always been, and will always be a key part of your overall marketing strategy. The more you can fine tune it, the better it will work for you. Keep an eye on the trends, be willing to adapt and make changes as necessary, and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a social media superstar!
